Who?

Northleigh House School was set up by Viv and Fred Morgan in their home in 2012 to help children who were missing out on education within the mainstream sector due to issues such as anxiety, learning difficulties, bullying, and autism.

As a result, over 170 secondary school-age students have had the opportunity to develop their full potential with individual educational programs in the nurturing environment and beautiful surroundings of Northleigh, with 36 pupils currently on roll.

Their Head of Art - the inspirational Aysha Cook – came up with the ambitious idea to host a postcard auction. After contacting hundreds of artists she received an OVERWHELMING response, with artists and creative figures from around the country contributing post-card sized artworks for the auction.

“We receive new enquiries from parents desperate to find a school for their child every day, so we have an ever-increasing waiting list,” comments Aysha. “The funds raised will be very gratefully received and crucial in enabling us to continue our very important work equipping children with the skills they need to be successful in the outside world.”

What?

The auction format will be a TIMED ONLINE EVENT, much the same as many will be familiar with via buying eBay. Each lot has a suggested pre-sale estimate, but these are just guides. All artworks are being sold WITHOUT RESERVE so bidding will start lower than the pre-sale estimates. Also, as this is a charity auction and we want all proceeds to help the pupils and staff at Northleigh House, there will be NO BUYERS PREMIUM or bidding charges for this auction.

When?

Bidding will close from 5pm on SUNDAY 6th OCTOBER. In the final hours of the auction, each lot will have a certain closing time. If bids are submitted close to the closing time, the time will be extended to allow for further bidding.

Where?

This is an online only auction and so there won’t be any availability for room bidding. The lots are stored at the Gildings Market Harborough saleroom. After the sale, we’ll issue an invoice for any lots purchased with information regarding collection of postage. There will be a small handling fee for postage of lots, in the region of £10 per invoice.

How?

To bid via this auction you will need to have setup an account with Gildings via our website, or by contacting us.

See our BID LIVE GUIDE for a step-by-step process to register.

Don’t forget that any mention of Buyer’s Premium for this special auction is not applicable (ordinarily buyer’s fees would apply). Once you have an account set up, click on the auction catalogue and you will be able to submit bids alongside each lot.

Why?

This is the easiest answer of all! Every child deserves a fair start in life. The brilliant work and support that the staff of Northleigh House can offer to their pupils is a fundamental lifeline. But they are limited in their capacity, with more and more children and parents asking for admission information. Let’s do all we can to help their funding income in giving what we can afford for unique artworks that have been generously given by the country’s creative talent. Art truly is inspirational and life changing!
